Your Support Makes a Difference

Year End Campaign

We are currently launching our final 2018 fundraising campaign, with a goal of raising $10,000 by the end of the year. We would like to invite you to partner with us for this campaign. The funds we raise will help supplement classroom instruction this school year by providing our students with private lessons and small group practices.   Your donations will also support our expansion to more schools for the 2019-2020 school year.

“I get to make music I never thought I would be able to make.”
— Tyler

This quote is from Tyler, a bass player that has been thriving in a Jazz Empowers program in Brooklyn for the past two years.    When Tyler first joined his school’s after school jazz band, he never thought that he would be playing the music of Duke Ellington, Herbie Hancock, and other jazz greats just six months later.  Now in his second year in the band, Tyler continues to develop both his skills as a musician and his love for jazz.  Tyler’s story is a powerful testimony of how learning jazz can bring joy, confidence, and creativity into a student’s life.

At Jazz Empowers we continually work to make sure more students like Tyler are able to have their lives transformed through learning jazz.   This school year we were able to expand the reach of our programs.  We doubled the number of our partnering schools from 7 to 14 and now serve 400 students.   These students are able to participate in 2-5 hours of jazz band rehearsals each week, directly in their community school.   We were also able to expand to additional cities including the birthplace of jazz, New Orleans!
