Geri Allen (1957-2017) was a world class performer, educator, and composer for nearly 4 decades. Allen performed with some of the best jazz musicians on the scene including Ron Carter, Tony Williams, and Charlie Haden. Allen released twenty albums as a leader and played on dozens of more albums as a sidewoman. Allen was also an accomplished educator, serving as director of jazz studies at the University of Pittsburgh.
