Sarah Hanahan
biography
A young altoist from Massachusetts, Sarah Hanahan draws extensive inspiration on her hero Jackie McLean in her playing. She attended the Hartt School of Music for her undergrad, and in 2022 graduated from Juilliard with her master’s. Highly regarded for her modern sound and playing style, she works with modern masters such as Jeff “Tain” Watts, Peter Martin, and Dee Dee Bridgewater. She does most of her work in and around NYC, often playing gigs at Smalls, Dizzy’s, Smoke, and others. Sarah is only at the beginning of her career, and already has her debut album out, Among Giants, released in 2024.
